At the point of buying a combo unit for my almost finished 14 Panga. I will be fishing both shallow water and Tampa Bay. I would appreciate feedback regarding these two units in particular but other ideas as well. I am not a high tec guy so ease of opperation is important.

Thanks

Garmins are pretty simple to operate, I had a 441s on my 18 and it did everything that I needed it to do.  Don't have any experience with the Hummingbird.  May want to consider a Lowrance HDS5, you add structure scan and a sonic hub stereo to it later as the need or desire arises.

Not to throw another brand to confuse things but, have you looked at the A series from Raymarine? I had one in my panga and loved it. Super easy to use and super easy to hookup.

For a few $$$$ more your could get into a Furuno GP1720C/NT (Just kidding)

The Garmin 541 gets my vote.  Where are you thinking of mounting the GPS unit ?  Are you going to have a console? or is it a tiller setup?

I just had the Garmin 441s installed and so far its great.  Not too big for my skiff and has plenty of functions.

Have been building this 14 Panga for about 7 months. I will post pictures soon. It is a tiller with a 25HP etec. Have molded a small platform from the starboard gunnell to mount the unit. So far it sounds like the Garmin 441s is the favorite.

Anybody have the Hummingbird 597ci hd di? That down imagining looks good.
