Well, Hello to everyone.  This is my first post.  I've been lingering awhile and enjoy the site.  I recently purchased a 26 and a 22 Imemsa from Mexico.  I have not decided which one I will be keeping.  The one that I don't keep most likely will be going to a friend of mine in Kona, Hawaii.  I will not be getting the boats for a couple of weeks, but in the meantime, I will be looking into ways to register the boat in my state.  My question is: what is the best way to register these boats?  I was thinking of trying the home made route but not sure if it will work.

What state are you in? The laws are different from state to state.

I registered a new Imemsa in Texas about three years ago. I was able to use the the bill of sale from Imemsa as long as it was signed by someone from Imemsa. The Mexican tax that I paid, kept me from having to pay Texas sales tax. The Imemsa hull number on my boat was used as the HIN (ex. W25 10234). Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.  That sounds promising.  I'd much rather pay Mexican tax instead of local.  Hopefully, it all works out.  Thanks again.

If you are refering to the boats with the police lights on them I think they are 26ft but it has been a long time since I have been down there so I could be wrong.

Ok guys, I finally completed my mission of getting a Imema Panga.  I ended up with a W26.  The broker I was dealing with told me to be there Thursday morning.  I was on time and one eager beaver.  Unfortunately, dealing with importing from Mexico, can have a lot of snags.  The truck bringing the boat was pulled over and they did three x rays before customs finally gave it the green light for crossing.  I didn't get the boat on my trailer until 8:30 pm that night.  On my way home there is one more check point where I was pulled over and my truck, trailer and boat was given another x ray.  Almost making it all the way back, my borrowed trailer with expired licence plate stickers and finicky running lights caught the attention of a state trooper who pulled me over.  He was a fellow fisherman, thank god and let me off with a warning.  Anyway, I will keep everyone posted on progress with the floor, console and motor.
