My 26 foot panga finally blew after 1000 hrs. Most of that 1000 hrs was on homemade biodiesel. I decided to repower with a 225 Merchaha 4 stroke. Mounted an A&J bracket and after lots of work I am now trying to settle on engine height and prop. I was surprised as to how high I have had to mount the engine. Cav plate is about 5 inches above the pad on the bottom of the hull. I have had the motor lower and higher and surprisingly doesn't affect top speed by much. I am running an aluminum 4 blade Rubex4 by Solas 14.25x19. Top speed is 39 mph at 5600rpm. That seems like a lot of slip and am not sure what to try next. I did try a Solas 4 blade SS that was worse in every respect to the Rubex4. I was surprised at that. Any thoughts that might help would be appreciated.
